German Bundesliga giants Werder Bremen have confirmed that they want to acquire Norwegian national team striker John Carew.

"He is one of the players we are interested in," said Werder's sports director Klaus Allofs to the German media. "However, for this to happen, the transfer fee should satisfy us."

Werder is currently leading the German league in terms of goal difference, having collected the same number of points as Schalke from Gelsenkirchen.

Although the attack is certainly not Werder's weak point - having scored 47 goals in 17 matches - the Bremen club may lose their most prolific player, German national team striker Miroslav Klose, who wants to move abroad.
