On Wednesday, five more matches of the English League Cup quarter-finals were played. The players of "Manchester City", who had won this trophy in the last four seasons, were forced to withdraw from the tournament when they had to admit defeat to "West Ham United" after a penalty shootout. Neither team managed to score during the main match time, so everything was decided in a penalty shootout. "West Ham" converted all five penalties, while "City" missed the first one with Phil Foden taking the shot. It is worth mentioning that the "Hammers" had previously eliminated "Manchester United" from this tournament.
