Currently occupying 17th place in the English Premier League, the club has lost its main goalkeeper Chris Kirkland for approximately six weeks. He injured his finger during Tuesday's training session, which will require surgery.

The team doctor Alan Tomlinson is not willing to predict exactly how long the treatment will last, but he believes it will take about six weeks and the goalkeeper will be able to play again at the end of March: "It's hard to say, as it all depends on how the finger heals after the surgery, but I think Chris will be able to play again after six weeks."

Chris Kirkland himself, who previously played for Leicester City and Liverpool, did not hide his disappointment, but hopes to still help the team in the fight for survival in the Premier League.

In the upcoming match against Watford, after more than a week, Michael Pollitt is expected to replace Chris Kirkland in the Wigan goal.
