The club acquired the Irish national team and Liverpool club full-back Kevin Kilbane and signed a three-year contract with him with the possibility of extending it for another year in the future.
It is believed that the "Wigan" team paid around 2 million pounds for the 29-year-old player.
"I am pleased that Kevin agreed to play for us. He is another high-level player for us," said the team's head coach Paul Jewell on the club's website. "He was born to play on the left side - a type of player we have not had so far."
"Paul Jewell is the kind of coach I like because he is close to the players and just wants to integrate me with the rest of the team," added K. Kilbane. "I want to thank the entire 'Everton' team. Everyone supported me here and whenever you leave such a good club like 'Everton', it's sad and hard to say 'goodbye'."
In the past, Kilbane has played for the "Preston" and "Sunderland" clubs.
This summer, K. Kilbane is the eighth player acquired by "Wigan". Earlier, the club has also added goalkeeper Chris Kirkland, defender Emmerson Boyce, midfielder Denny Landzaat, striker Emile Heskey, Fitz Hall, and young Tomaš Čywka to its ranks.
