Will the Champions League be played on weekends?

News spreading in the media about the country's championships - UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) and ECA (European Club Association) discussed possible changes in the Champions League match dates in a secret meeting. This season has already seen changes in match times, with two matches scheduled to be played at 19:55, and the remaining six at 22:00. Now there is a threat that Champions League matches could be moved to weekends. Aleksandras Čeferinas and Andrea Agnelli, who is the president of ECA, believe that weekend matches for the Champions League would bring in significantly more profit, especially targeting the Chinese market. Currently, teams are already forced to play matches on weekends in national championships, but Agnelli's proposal is to reduce the number of matches in the leagues and play more on weekdays. However, it is certain that the leagues will not change their position and will oppose any UEFA proposal. Furthermore, in this meeting, an idea was presented to change the format of the Champions League. Agnelli would like to eliminate the eight groups in the tournament - instead having four groups, each with eight teams playing in them.
