Video review technologies could be used as early as this season in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League knockout stages.
The technologies were ready to start being used from next season.
Andrea Agnelli thinks differently, the chairman of the European Club Association said at a press conference: "It is possible that VAR will be started earlier."
Next to him, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said: "I hope we will have a report next week, then it will be clear whether we can start VAR this season. At the latest, it will be used next season."
After Agnelli's statement, he added: "Finally, next season means that an earlier date for VAR usage is possible."
