Willian stepped in for the penalty missed by R. Barkley

On Tuesday, London's "Chelsea" had an unsuccessful start to their UEFA Champions League campaign - the "aristocrats" lost 0-1 to "Valencia" footballers at home.

The hosts fell behind from the 74th minute, when Rodrigo put "Valencia" ahead. However, in the 87th minute, "Chelsea" had a perfect opportunity to equalize, but Ross Barkley missed the penalty from 11 meters.

The 25-year-old Englishman boldly took the initiative, although the more experienced Willian also wanted to take the penalty. However, the Brazilian stood by his teammate after the match.

Ross was confident about the penalty, but I also offered to take it. Unfortunately, it didn't work out, but it could have happened to me or any other footballer," Willian said after the match.

The winger stated that his team had hoped for a successful start to the tournament.

"We hoped to start with a win, but unfortunately, we lost. There are still five games left, in which we will try to secure a place in the next stage. I have no doubt that our chances are good," the Brazilian added.
