Winds of Change in the "Barcelona" Club © EuroFootball.com

One of the strongest European football clubs is planning a significant rejuvenation this summer. The media in Spain reports that the team should be reinforced by four new players, and even seven current players should bid farewell to the Catalan club.

According to the newspaper "Marca," the team plans to acquire a new goalkeeper who could compete with Victor Valdes for a spot in the starting lineup. The Catalan team also wishes to acquire a center-back, as well as left and right wingers. Although potential candidates are not named, it is claimed that "Barcelona" aims to sign players such as defender Francisca Yeste, midfielder Mark van Bommel, or star Michael Essien. It's true that F. Yeste is a full-back.

The acquisition of a new goalkeeper would likely mean that Albert Jorquera, who, according to coach F. Rijkaard, is unable to compete adequately with V. Valdes for a spot in the starting lineup, would not stay. Likely, the defender Fernandas Navarro will also not return to the team after struggling to secure a place in the main squad and expressing a desire to leave the team.

The successful midfielder Fabio Rochemback is also not likely to return to the team, as the footballer, who belongs to Barcelona but is currently loaned out in Portugal, should be sold to a Lisbon club soon. The future of midfielder Gerardo in Spain is also uncertain, as his contract with the Catalan team expires this summer, and the club management has not shown any effort to extend the contract. The player recently stated that he has received offers from other teams.

F. Rijkaard was not impressed by the experienced Italian player's performance. The defender who joined the team just this winter was supposed to replace the injured Thiago Motta and Edmilson, but failed to do so properly and is unlikely to receive an offer to extend the temporary six-month contract.

And the last two players who could leave the team are two Argentine players currently on loan to other teams - Juan Roman Riquelme and Javier Saviola. The first has been representing the club successfully for two years and is likely to continue his career there. However, there have been rumors about a possible move to another team.

J. Saviola's situation is less clear, as the player should soon receive an Italian passport and would no longer be considered a foreign player in the Barcelona team. However, the Argentine player should be concerned about the slim chances of making it into the starting lineup.
