On Tuesday, one match was played in the English Premier League.

In an intriguing game, the "Liverpool" club achieved a psychologically important victory, beating "Blackburn" 3-2 thanks to a late goal by Andy Carroll in their fight for survival in the top league.

It was the first win for the 'Reds' after four consecutive losses, but after the first 16 minutes, it seemed that the victory would be much easier. Maxi Rodriguez, who rarely appeared on the field, scored twice from close range, sending the hosts reeling.

However, the tables turned in the 25th minute when David Hoilett intercepted a misplaced pass by defender John Flanagan and sprinted towards the goalkeeper, Doni. Doni could not stop him and brought him down, resulting in a red card for the goalkeeper.

Just a few days ago, the main goalkeeper for "Liverpool," Pepe Reina, received a red card, so when Flanagan was substituted, reserve goalkeeper Brad Jones had to come on the field. Jones did not disappoint: he saved the poorly taken penalty by Yakubu and preserved the two-goal lead.

But not for long. In the 36th minute, Yakubu scored with his head to reduce the deficit, and in the 61st minute, he earned another penalty, as Jones brought him down when failing to grip a high ball. The goalkeeper received a yellow card, and Yakubu scored for the second time - 2-2.

Although "Blackburn" desperately tried to snatch a victory, luck smiled on "Liverpool" during stoppage time: after a corner, the defenders cleared the ball towards the goal line, but it was returned by defender Sebastian Coates. Then Daniel Agger made a pass with his head to Carroll, who scored accurately for the third time, beating Paul Robinson.
