World Championship in Qatar - without beer © AFP

In the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, the strongest fans of national teams from around the world will be forced to change their habits. According to Reuters, fans inside the stadiums will not be able to refresh themselves with beer or other alcoholic beverages. Exceptions will be made only for certain matches, when fans of the football teams themselves will be able to purchase beer before or after the games. In the past, a similar approach was taken by the Brazilian authorities. During the 2014 World Cup, there was an attempt to ban the sale of alcohol during matches, but FIFA intervened and the restriction was lifted. It is estimated that about 1.2 million foreigners may visit the World Cup in Qatar.
