World Championship Qualifiers: Germans Defeat Azerbaijan, Scots Beat Slovenians (VIDEO)

n Sunday, nine qualification matches for the 2018 World Cup group stage were played in the Old Continent.

The defending champions, the German national football team, fought for victory against Azerbaijan in Group C. Joachim Low's team secured a comfortable 4-1 victory.

Andre Schurrle put Germany ahead in the 19th minute, but Azerbaijan managed to equalize in the 31st minute. However, the Germans were not in a joking mood and scored two more goals before the end of the first half, thanks to Thomas Muller and Mario Gomez.

In the second half, another goal from A. Schurrle sealed the victory for Germany.

In the same group, the Czech team defeated San Marino with a 6-0 scoreline. With five wins, Germany is currently the leader of the group, while the Czech Republic climbed to the second position temporarily.

In Group E, Armenia beat Kazakhstan 2-0, Poland defeated Montenegro after a tight match, and Romania and Denmark finished with a goalless draw.

In Group F, where the Lithuanian national team lost to England today, Scotland and Slovakia secured victories. Scotland narrowly defeated Slovenia and pushed Lithuania to the penultimate place.
