European teams are intensively preparing for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches. As usual, some national team head coaches are quickly changing their team compositions due to injuries.

Group 1

The coach of the Czech national team, Karel Bruckner, last minute added Libor Sonko and Rudolf Skacel to the team for the matches against Romania and Armenia. Right-back Sonko should replace the injured veteran Karel Poborsky.

Group 2

The Danish team hastily included goalkeeper Jesper Christiansen for the matches against Albania and Turkey, replacing the injured Thomas Sorensen.

Turkey will be represented by goalkeeper Rustu Recber, who has recovered from a knee injury.

Group 3

Russia will be without Marat Izmailov and Denis Kolodin for the matches against Luxembourg and Portugal.

Group 4

France will miss Ludovic Giuly for the matches against Ireland and Cyprus. Injured David Trezeguet will be replaced by Peguy Luyindula. It is unclear if defender Gael Givet will play.

Slovenia will be without Aleksander Knavs for the matches against Italy and Norway.

Scotland hastily called up defender Richard Hughes for matches against Norway and Moldova.

Group 6

Poland is facing major problems as Ebi Smolarek has joined the list of injured players. In total, Poland will be without 6 key players.

Wales has lost defender Andy Johnson and forward Gareth Taylor, as well as long-term absentees Robert Page and goalkeeper Rhys Weston.
