On Sunday, the long-awaited FIFA World Cup kicked off in Qatar.
After the grand opening ceremony at the "Al Bayt" arena, the first match of the tournament took place between the Qatari team and the Ecuadorian national team.
The South American team confidently started the match and already in the 3rd min. E. Valencia directed the ball towards the goal.
To the surprise of football fans, the referee, after a VAR review, decided not to count the goal and the result remained unchanged.
However, this decision did not discourage Ecuador - in the 16th min. E. Valencia accurately converted a penalty kick awarded for a goalkeeper's fault in the penalty area.
In the 31st min. E. Valencia, receiving a pass from A. Preciado, scored another goal with a great header - 2:0.
In the second half, the Qatar team did not look completely hopeless, but even with some psychological recovery, they still couldn't seriously threaten the opponent's goal.
Meanwhile, Ecuador did not blindly rush into attack and securely maintained their favorable result - 2:0.
