World Cup 2018: Russian accommodation prices set by Russians shocked foreigners

Foreign tourism agencies and fans are looking for alternative accommodation options in Russian cities during next year's World Cup, writes lrytas.lt.

The reason - astronomical prices in hotels of any level.

"Inquiries from various countries are flowing to Russian travel agencies and hotels directly. But until actual orders are mostly unavailable - the majority of potential tourists are deterred by suddenly increased prices," - says a statement from the Russian Tourism Operators Association.

Kaliningrad, located in Lithuania's neighborhood, is currently a record holder in prices.

On June 28 of next year, when England and Belgium national teams will play in the city, a night at a guesthouse costs 18,000 rubles (260 euros) - ten times more expensive than on other days.
