Worst winter transfer window moves (Part I)

On January 1st, the winter transfer window for football players began, which lasts until January 31st. "Eurofootball.com" offers a look at the 10 players list who, according to foreign media, have been the most disappointing winter signings.

1. Fernando Torres (From "Liverpool" to "Chelsea", 2011) | Spain's striker, costing 50 million pounds, is probably the most disappointing purchase on this list. He failed to shine for the "Blues", and "Chelsea" sold him to "Milan" for a few million at the end of the season.

2. Andy Carroll (From "Newcastle" to "Liverpool", 2011) | The impressive 35 million pound price tag for the Englishman was a real disappointment for the "Reds" and the club. A.Carroll played only one and a half seasons for Liverpool, but due to poor performance, he moved to "West Ham".

3. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (From "Ajax" to Madrid "Real", 2009) | One of the worst decisions in "Real" club history. The Dutchman cost 20 million euros to the Spanish capital team, but he couldn't play in the UEFA Champions League and ended his career with the "White" team after half a season.

4. Christopher Samba (From "Anzhi" to QPR, 2013) | Harry Redknapp bought the defender hoping he would help QPR stay in the English Premier League. However, C.Samba, costing 12.5 million pounds, played only 10 games, and he was no longer in London after the season.

5. Breno (From "Sao Paulo" to "Bayern", 2008) | The Brazilian, costing 12 million euros for the German champions, is one of the most tragic players on this list. In the Bavarian ranks, the defender hardly played and was plagued by injuries, during which he managed to burn down his house and even "taste" prison food.

6. Kostas Mitroglou (From "Olympiacos" to "Fulham", 2014) | The Greek national team striker was considered one of the most talented footballers in his country, and many "Premier" League clubs were interested in him. But he failed to shine in the "Fulham" team, despite costing 11 million pounds.

7. Antonio Cassano (From "Roma" to Madrid "Real", 2006) | The Italian did not live up to the expectations at the royal club and became almost completely irrelevant to the team. At that time, the "Real" president Roman Calderon decided to loan the striker to "Sampdoria" in 2007, and he never returned to Madrid.

8. Andrei Arshavin (From "Zenit" to "Arsenal", 2009) | The Russian striker cost "Gunners" 15 million pounds and had a successful start, but his talent quickly faded, and the trust in him was lost.

9. Daniel Fonseca (From "Juventus" to "River Plate", 2000) | The Uruguayan player didn't cost the Argentine club anything, but he also didn't contribute anything to the team. He failed to play a single game for "River Plate" during his career there.

10. Julien Faubert (From "West Ham" to Madrid "Real", 2009) | Madrid "Real" did not purchase the footballer and only loaned him for half a season. However, the defender was just a backup player and didn't play a single game. He became a sort of joke among "Real" fans, as at the end of the season, a poster was specially created for him: "Thank you for everything!".
