W.Rooney: We were considered seafaring pigs © JumpStory

"Derby" team forward Wayne Rooney doesn't understand why English football leaders took so long to consider whether to stop local championships. The veteran expressed his thoughts to "The Times" newspaper: "After an unusual meeting, the right decision was finally made. Until then, it almost felt like football players in England were being treated like guinea pigs. All other sports - tennis, Formula-1, rugby, golf, football in other countries - stopped, while we wanted to continue everything. On Thursday, we were sitting at "Derby" training and waiting for Prime Minister Boris Johnson's speech. People were worried. Finally, the season was suspended and if some players are unhappy, in this case we should think that football is secondary. It's just a sport," clarified W.Rooney.
