London strategist Arsene Wenger was angered by Xavi's comments, in which the Spaniard claims that Cesc Fabregas is "suffering" unable to return to the Catalonia team.

In an official statement spread on the Spanish champions' website, Xavi said: "I talked to Cesc in Ibiza and he told me that he is suffering because he wants to play for the Barcelona team. He did everything he could, and he wants to leave Arsenal, so now everything depends on the London club."

The experienced midfielder's words provoked the anger of Arsenal's strategist Arsene Wenger: "I think mutual respect between clubs should prevent such comments from appearing. If this is true, these words are very disrespectful, and Xavi behaves like this not for the first time."

The negotiations between Arsenal and Barcelona for Fabregas have been going on for more than a year, but so far they have failed to reach an agreement.

Arsenal would like to receive over 40 million euros for the midfielder, while Barcelona is not willing to pay that much.
