Xavi openly expressed his support for Pep Guardiola, saying that his joining "Manchester City" will change the face of English football.
The legendary midfielder was one of the key players in Guardiola's coached "Barcelona" team, with whom they won fourteen trophies between 2008-2012. After leaving the Catalan team, the coach moved to the "Bayern" club, where he enjoyed seven titles, but faced criticism for never crossing the Champions League semi-final barrier.
However, the veteran, who now plays in Qatar, is convinced that his former coach will have a huge impact on the Premier League.
"His work at 'Manchester City' club brings great opportunities. I believe he will change the face of English football. If anyone can change that mentality, it's Guardiola. It's not just a great opportunity, but he will also face great pressure, as everyone always expects a lot from Guardiola. But without a doubt – now he is one of the best coaches in the world," Xavi said in an interview with sc.qa.
Guardiola will replace Manuel Pellegrini, who has been at the club for three years, as the coach of "Manchester City."
