Former French national team goalkeeper Youri Djorkaeff has decided to end his professional football career after this season.

The World and European champion will end his career after his contract with the New York "Red Bull" (formerly "The MetroStars") team expires. The U.S. season will end in October.

The former midfielder was named the most valuable player of "The MetroStars" team in the last American football championship.

The 38-year-old Y. Djorkaeff announced his retirement from the sport to the French channel "Canal+". Before moving to the U.S., the Frenchman also played for teams in Milan, Grenoble, and others.
