"Manchester United" forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave an exclusive interview to "Sky Sports" television, insisting that he came here to prove otherwise to those who said that a veteran cannot have a decisive impact in the Premier League, as reported on the manutd.lt website.
In an interview with Thierry Henry, Z. Ibrahimovic recalled the criticism received from former players, whom he "no longer remembers" and is convinced that his critics will remember him for the rest of their lives.
This summer, the Swede arrived from "Paris Saint-Germain" club and has already scored 18 goals in all competitions. Speaking with T. Henry, Z. Ibrahimovic stated that past criticism gives him energy and believes that choosing "United" was not the easiest path.
Zlatan said: "I have no problem with criticism, as it has followed me throughout my career. It is what motivates me, gives me energy."
"People talking about me say 'You are the past, you are this and that,' former players say similar things, and I don't even remember how they played. But one thing I am sure of - they will remember me for the rest of their lives."
"After many years of rumors that I wouldn’t go play in the Premier League because it wouldn’t suit me, I had a little adventure in my life traveling and playing in various countries, but I came to England at a time when everyone said it would be the hardest for me. Another player in my place would have taken the easy route and gone abroad, let’s say to China to earn money. I did the opposite - I accepted the challenge."
"That is exactly why I chose 'United', who have also been in a slump in recent years, and if I accomplish the task of bringing them back to the top, I will feel more than happy. I don’t like easy tasks, easy jobs, or simple goals. Wherever I traveled, I wanted it to be as difficult as possible. I had to do much more than others and now, as I see it with my own eyes at the age of 35, people said it would be impossible, but I do what I do best."
