One of the best attackers of his generation, Zlatan Ibrahimovic acknowledges that in order to compete in the English Premier League, one must have excellent physical preparation, but he also adds that this league is somewhat overrated.
The veteran, now playing for Los Angeles Galaxy, arrived in the Premier League at the age of 35 and demonstrated excellent results. In his first season, he played in 28 matches in the Premier League and scored 17 goals.
Z. Ibrahimovic says that all the talk about the capability of the Premier League was exactly the reason why he decided to come to Manchester United.
"My arrival in the Premier League was delayed - by then I had already had a very long career as a footballer. I had the opportunity to try out new countries, new clubs.
People always told me that I didn't have to go to England, because if I couldn't prove myself there, many would think that I was never good enough. Everyone was against my idea of coming here, but it only motivated me, gave me adrenaline.
I really enjoyed the Premier League. I was very motivated and excited about this opportunity. You always get a lot of attention being here. However, I felt that the level of these competitions is somewhat overrated - both in terms of individual mastery and technical aspect.
The game itself is very fast-paced. Even if you are the best, but can't keep up with this rhythm and speed, you won't succeed in this league, because the game tempo here is really intense," - shared the footballer his experience.
Asked about his time at the Man Utd club, he did not spare kind words for his former team: "I am proud and incredibly happy that I came to United. We won, and before the injury, I did what I had to do. I have a lot of great memories."
