Zlatan Ibrahimovic fulfilled his promise he made when he returned to the AC Milan team in 2020. The Bosnian roots striker promised then that he would not leave the team until they achieved something together. After two years with the AC Milan team, they finally won the "Scudetto" after a long time, but this triumph came at a cost, specifically Zlatan's health.
After the victory, Z. Ibrahimovic revealed on social media that he had been playing for the last 6 months with a torn knee ligament, with injections and painkillers. "For the last six months, I played with a torn left knee ligament. My knee was swollen for the last six months. During the last six months, I had the opportunity to train with the team only 10 times. During that time, I took 20 injections. Once a month, I removed fluids from my knee. I took painkillers every day. Because of the pain, I almost didn't sleep for 6 months. I have never suffered so much on the field and beyond," he said.
"I turned something impossible into something possible. I had only one goal, to become Italian champions with my teammates and coach, as I promised. Today I have a new knee ligament and one more trophy," Ibrahimovic said on his Instagram account.
In October, Zlatan will be 41 years old, but most likely, after the surgery, the striker will try to play again. Rehabilitation can last up to 8 months.
