Madrid's "Real" fans recently were convinced that the only winter purchase would be the promising Bilbao "Athletic" goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
However, the transfer will not happen - the 23-year-old goalkeeper, after incredible attempts by "Real" to acquire him, decided to sign a new contract with the Basques, which will be valid until 2025.
Kepa's old contract with "Athletic" was supposed to end after this season. It was expected that "Real" would now pay 20 million euros and add a Spanish national team member, but they did not do that, and now the player's contract states a harder to bite amount - 80 million euros.
The Madrid press is convinced that Florentino Perez was sure about Kepa's arrival, but the deal didn't happen only because of Zinedine Zidane, who spoke last month about not taking any actions in the market.
Z. Zidane is satisfied with both Keylor Navas and Kiko Casilla, although the club's management has been looking for a goalkeeper for many years.
"Real" fans are not very happy with this another questionable decision by Z. Zidane, as the goalkeeping problem is still relevant, and both mentioned goalkeepers are over 30, while there was an opportunity to attract a young goalkeeper with "La Liga" experience.
