On Saturday officially ended the 2015-16 season, which was crowned by the UEFA Champions League final. After a series of penalty kicks, the Madrid "Real" club triumphed, winning their 11th title in the prestigious tournament.
The senior "white" coach Zinedine Zidane did not hide his emotions after the match and celebrated the team's most important victory this season. Since January, when the Frenchman took over as coach of "Real", he has not spared compliments for his opponents, adding that anything could have been achieved today.
"Yes, I dreamt about it," Zidane responded to a journalist's question about winning the Champions League. "I must thank the president who gave me the opportunity to train this amazing team. Looking at the composition and talents of this team, you can really achieve a lot with it."
"The winner was decided in the penalty shoot-out, so they had equal chances of winning. Congratulations to Simeone and his team, he is an incredible coach. I am proud of my team because I know they had to endure a lot.
We demonstrated good enough football, but in the end we lacked energy. After an early goal, we felt some pressure and became a bit unsettled, but everyone fought and ultimately triumphed," the coach added.
Zidane became the eighth coach to win the Champions League both as a player and as a head coach.
