The Vilnius team, preparing for the upcoming season of the "A League" and Baltic League, is actively looking to strengthen the squad. According to an official announcement from the "Žalgiris" club, several footballers from Eastern European countries are expected to arrive soon for team trials. Among them will be a defender from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as two midfielders and two forwards. When asked about these players, the president and coach of the Vilnius club, Arminas Narbekovas, singled out a forward from Slovakia: "The player himself expressed a desire to play for 'Žalgiris', he has recently played in Germany, and my colleagues abroad speak positively about him." As stated in the club's announcement, three players are already participating in the trial for Žalgiris - two defenders and one forward. Defender Aleksejus Dubyna is still training with the team. According to A. Narbekovas, the future of this Belarusian in the team will be clarified this week. The 'Žalgiris' leader confirmed that 28-year-old defender Edvinas Lukoševičius, who played for "Atlantas" last season, is also at the trial: "E. Lukoševičius would suit our team and strengthen the defense line, so I believe we will sign a contract with him." This Thursday, on February 1st, Žalgiris will play a friendly match against Soligorsk's "Shakhtyor" in Minsk. Further preparation for the season will also be intense. "We have offers from some Lithuanian and Latvian teams to play friendly matches later on, and in the second half of February, we will go to a training camp abroad. Initially, we planned to go to Cyprus, but we received a tempting offer from Turkey. We will consider both options and choose the most beneficial one for the team," - stated Arminas Narbekovas to EuroFootball.com.
