“Žalgiris” team and Ogenyi Eddy Onazi have parted ways. The Nigerian legionnaire left the Lithuanian champions club by mutual agreement and will continue his career in another country. O. Onazi, who has played in Italian, Turkish clubs and the Nigerian national team in the past, arrived in Lithuania in the summer. The midfielder played 19 out of 20 matches and scored 2 goals in the A league, as well as appeared in all 6 Champion and Europa League qualification matches. His goal helped the team secure a victory in Belfast against “Linfield”. “We are grateful to Ogenyi for his contribution to the team's achievements so far, the experience transmitted to young players. Inviting and keeping players of this caliber in Lithuania is very difficult, therefore negotiations regarding their arrival are agreed upon, with exceptions. Playing for “Žalgiris” opened up new, greater career prospects for him and he seized this opportunity. We wish him the best of luck in his future career,” said “Žalgiris” director Vilma Venslovaitienė. “It is very difficult to say goodbye, but everything happened very quickly and I had to make a choice. I thank the “Žalgiris” club for this opportunity. I had a chance to show that I can play after an injury. Thank you to the “Žalgiris” fans for supporting the team and me personally. From now on, I will be a fan of “Žalgiris”, the team will remain in my heart. I will root for the team and pray for its success in reaching the group stage of the Europa Conference League,” said O. Onazi as he bid farewell.
