Žalgiris trampled the Kaunas Žalgiris club

In the central matches of the 31st round of the "TOPsport A League," spectators did not witness any intrigue. In the "Žalgiris" derby, the team from Vilnius dominated from the very start of the match and celebrated a victory with a score of 5:0 (4:0).

The meeting in the capital began with a prolonged VAR review, after which a penalty kick was awarded to the Kaunas team's goal. Liviu Antalis confidently struck the ball, leaving Deividas Mikelionis unable to respond and putting Vilnius in the lead.

After conceding a goal, the Kaunas team did not falter and created their own chance, but Fedoras Černychas, receiving a pass from Vilius Armanavičius, missed the target.

In the 24th minute, forward Nikola Petković, assisted by Yukiyoshi Karashima's pass, doubled the lead.

During the referee's added time in the first half, the Kaunas team's humiliation began – J. Bopesu's precision pass found N. Petković, who scored his second goal. That wasn't the end – P. Golubickas confused several opponents and with a very precise shot from the post turned the score into 4:0.

Just before the break, the Kaunas team had a chance, but Oyinlola Kayode's low shot was just beside the distant goalpost.

Four goals were not enough for the Vilnius team. In the 74th minute, from the penalty spot, Ovidijus Verbickas, who recently welcomed a new addition to his family, gifted the team another accurate strike.

The Kaunas team, having experienced a nightmare in the capital, stands in third place in the tournament table with 52 points, while Vilnius "Žalgiris" has 64 points and is approaching the title.
