Žalgiris wins the Vilnius region derby and returns to first place in A league

Vilnius "Žalgiris" did not take long to return to the top of the "TOPsport A league" standings. In the postponed match of the 25th round, the Žalgiris team defeated the Vilnius region team "TransINVEST" 2:0 (1:0).

The match started perfectly for the vice-champions. In the 2nd minute, Paulius Golubickas handled the ball in the penalty area and sent it into the net.

The guests threatened with a shot from Misaki Sato, which Arpadas Tordai dealt with. On the other side of the field, Stefanas Čupičius had some work to do; once the ball hit the post, and at another moment, Ričardas Šveikauskas defended exceptionally in a challenging situation.

In the second half, "Žalgiris" solidified their advantage. In the 59th minute, after a pass from Joris Moutachy from the right wing, Adama Fofana scored a header.

The match ended early for Linas Pilibaitis and Paulius Golubickas due to injuries.

With 53 points, the Vilnius team is back in first place, while the Vilnius region team, with 23 points, remains in eighth place.
