“Kauno Žalgiris” club will have to continue the rest of the season without one of the most productive players of the “TOPsport A lyga” Armandas Kučys. The forward will continue his career from now on in the ranks of the Slovenian champions “Celje”.
In the summer of 2023, A.Kučys, who had a valid contract with “Kauno Žalgiris”, had to pay a solid compensation to the Slovenian team.
“During a year in our club, Armandas made great progress, established himself in men's football and the national team, attracting the attention of many clubs. We wish Armandas success,” said club president Mantas Kalnietis.
The 21-year-old player from Panevėžys played 36 official matches wearing the colors of “Kauno Žalgiris”, scoring 11 goals and making 4 assists.
The youngster also established himself in the Lithuanian men's football national team and already scored his first goals against Gibraltar and Latvia.
The forward, who has already scored 6 goals in this season's Lithuanian championship, was also named the best young player of the month in April.
With his new club, A.Kučys will soon compete in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, where “Celje” will face Tallinn's “Flora”.
