"Zlatan-like" story: how Z. Ibrahimović allowed Swedish disabled people to go to the World Cup

Swedish footballer and current Los Angeles Galaxy player Zlatan Ibrahimovic is rightfully one of the most popular footballers in the world, both for his performances on the field and for his incredible actions off the field.

One of the most underrated Zlatan's actions took place on August 11, 2014. The Swedish intellectually disabled football team wanted to fly to the INAS World Football Championship in Brazil, but they lacked funds to do so.

To help raise funds, members of the Swedish football team Johan Elmander, Kim Kallstrom, Andreas Isaksson, and Per Nilsson offered to auction off their signed jerseys. However, when they asked Z. Ibrahimovic to contribute with his jersey, he was not impressed with such a team approach.

"What can they possibly do with our jerseys? How much does it cost them to travel to the championships?" - the leader of the Swedish national team asked his teammates at the time.

Learning that they needed $51,000 for the trip to the world championship, Z. Ibrahimovic asked for their bank account number and immediately covered all the expenses from his own pocket, so the Swedish disabled team could attend the championships in Brazil.

"It's incredible, fantastic, and unreal. I still can't believe that this is reality. Thank you Zlatan for fulfilling all of our dreams," - said the coach of the Swedish disabled team Stefan Jonsson after the event.

Although the Swedes did not win any victories in the championship, the team members are still grateful to Z. Ibrahimovic, who was appointed as an ambassador for the team, for giving them the opportunity to experience unforgettable moments and lifelong memories.
